WWT NRPs Slash Torque by 70% in Latin America S-Well

Torque Concern
WWT Non-Rotating Protectors (NRPs) were installed targeting areas of high side forces throughout drilling the 12-1/4” and 8-1/2” hole sections.

WWT model SS3-550 NRPs were installed at a frequency of one per joint to reduce torque and drag.

• 150 NRPs were installed in the 12-1/4” section
• 165 NRPs were installed in the 8-1/2” section

NRP Performance
Maximum analysed side forces were 2,900 lbf/jt. Data indicates that torque was reduced by:

• 51% in the 12-1/4” section
• 70% in the 8-1/2” section
